(Another) Dustin gets out of his own head and has better conversations...

Case Study Summary

Dustin, a charter fishing guide, came to coaching to smooth out rough spots in conversations and feel more confident connecting with others. He wanted a clear structure to guide him, and coaching delivered. His biggest win was learning tools like the Spokes Method to keep conversations flowing and handle awkward moments with ease. With a solid game plan, Dustin now feels more relaxed, confident, and prepared for every interaction. He calls coaching a game-changing investment that’s helped him show up as his best self.

Hey, Dustin, thank you so much for hopping on with me and doing a case study. I really appreciate it. First off, if you'll just tell people listening, who are you and what do you do?

Hey everybody. So my name is Dustin and I am a charter fishing guide down the bayou.

What was the biggest reason you wanted coaching? What did you hope to learn?

The biggest reason that I wanted coaching was there was just certain situations and conversations to where there were just rough edges. It was rough spots and I kind of wanted to get past those rough spots. And what coaching, what I would hope to learn from coaching is I wanted to have some sort of structure, something to kind of pinpoint me in the right direction to where those rough edges would kind of smooth out and conversations would be a lot smoother and absolutely coaching 100% did help me in that direction.

What would you say was the most important thing you learned with coaching?

The most important thing I learned was the different ways that you can continue conversations. So in the spokes method, for instance, you know, it has different, like you have a topic and how to branch off from that topic, how to thread different topics together, how to keep that conversation going and without falling out and having that awkward silence.

And even if you do have an awkward silence, you learn through coaching, how to deal with that, how to move forward from those fumbling moments. And 100% keeping the conversation going was by far my favorite.

Talk a little bit about how life is different after coaching, what sort of wins can you share with us?

Life is different after coaching because you have a little bit more confidence when engaging with another person. When you have, it's kind of, it's just like with any sport, when you have some kind of game plan, it makes everything much easier. You're out of your head a little bit more.

And even like, even when you do get back in your head, it's like you have a plan, you know what you have to do, and you can kind of have a little bit of comfort in that where you can kind of, you can kind of be your best self whenever you bring yourself towards a conversation because you've prepared in advance.

Doing a little smart preparation, not over preparing, but just preparing. And then hopefully in the game, your training takes over and you can just forget about it. I love it. So what would you tell someone who's considering getting private coaching from me?

Well, if you keep doing the same thing, you'll get the same results. So if you get coaching with Jeff 100%, you're going to be moving in the right direction. I mean, the whole reason he's doing this is to get you in a better spot. And if you, if you can do that, it's 100% it's game changing. So I, I encourage you to do the same thing. And I really appreciate what he's done for my life so far.

Dustin, I really enjoyed having you as a client and I appreciate you hopping on this case study with me.
