YOU ARE...

THE DIRECTOR

Based on your quiz results, you are the director.

This communication style is driven by two things: the need to get things done and the need to control the situation.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DIRECTOR

‍

You are most comfortable in settings where you manage others and take control of situations.

‍

Fast-paced and goal-oriented, Directors are focused on bottom-line results and achieving success.

‍

This go-getter mentality makes you an innate leader, but it also means you can come across as impatient and insensitive.

‍

Socially, you may feel most comfortable hosting a get-together or group activity, just make sure you're not trying to control every aspect of the situation.

HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH A DIRECTOR:

‍

  • Be clear, brief, fast, and precise. Be well-prepared to provide solutions to their problems.
  • Limit small talk and get down to business.
  • Highlight key points. Avoid going into too much detail early on.
  • Find out their goals and provide options with clear costs and benefits.
  • Supply concrete data to back up claims of progress. Show how goals have been obtained.
HOW TO COMMUNICATE AS A DIRECTOR:

‍

  • Know that you may need to slow down and explain issues more thoroughly.
  • Realize that people may need to "warm-up" with a little small talk.
  • You may need to explain the details and process behind your key points.
  • Sharing more about yourself. Telling a story about yourself helps other people relate to you.
  • Delegate as ask for help when you need it! You don't have to do everything!
SPECIFIC PEOPLE SKILLS TO WORK ON FOR A DIRECTOR:

‍

  • Being socially adaptable. You can't (and shouldn't) control everything!
  • Small talk. Lighter conversation serves an important purpose because it lays the foundation for going deeper and getting things done.
  • Early empathy. Speaking to people's emotions and feelings will help you connect with them and prevent any "impatient" or "harsh" vibes.
  • Know that you may need to ask people how they feel about situations or options more than you normally would.
  • Empowering others. Asking for help and giving up control are HARD for Directors! But the more you can empower others, the more stuff you can accomplish!

‍

AS A DIRECTOR, YOU...
1

Are ambitious and a natural leader. You are happiest when you're striving for a new goal.

2

Need to prioritize empathy when communicating with others.

3

Work best in social situations where you have a "job" (like DJ, chef, host, or bartender)

4

Value professional relationships highly. This means you need to work harder at non-work relationships.

‍

My private coaching clients are typically Directors who have been successful in their careers.

‍

Often, they're technically skilled, and that's helped them play at a high level. But they realize that just being technically skilled is not enough.

‍

They have bigger ambitions for their lives and careers.

‍

They know that the next step in both their personal and professional lives is to work on their people skills and charisma so that they can 10x their results.
